Public Art Abu Dhabi

Recently unveiled monumental work titled “Directions, UAE”

Drawing its inspiration from the inception of the United Arab Emirates, “Directions, UAE” by Mohammed Kazem, embodies the spirit of boundless opportunities within the State. This architectural marvel symbolizes a beacon that ascends from the ground to the heavens, mirroring the symbolism of a Lighthouse and its role in providing guidance. Kazem utilized various components of light in the construction of this grand structure, effectively showcasing the precise coordinates of each of the seven emirates, gracefully enveloping the cylindrical structure. This deliberate circular arrangement symbolically signifies the enduring spirit of collaboration and unity among all Emirates. The circular manner observed here serves as a testament to the enduring cooperation and cohesion among all Emirates, reflecting the collective efforts in nation-building across cultural, political, historical, social, and economic realms.

The public interventions were commissioned by Public Art Abu Dhabi as part of Manar and curated by Reem Fadda and Alia Zaal.
