Macht Schon is a “moving painting” animation drawn on found footage from the media. The original footage encompasses three situations taking place sequentially: 1. The policemen forming a wall to prevent a group of refuges from crossing the border 2. The wall is broken down and a journalist trips a refugee and his child 3. The refugees push on forward running across the border in mayhem.
We have extracted the footage, printed it on paper, then painted each individual frame and positioned the three situations as members of one functioning cell capsuled off in a membrane. In doing so we explore the possibility of what happens when these factors are brought together interacting as each perform their individual function: the policemen setting limits and building walls to control, the refugees creating a volatile state of disorder and the journalist documenting while obstructing.
