In the first draft paper, Hassan mentions a string of numbers from 1 to 20: 1,2,3,4,….20
Then, he randomly picked 5 of them: 3,9, 13, 15 and 18.
He created 20 grids of 5 rows x 4 columns in which he distributed the numbers from 1 to 20. From grid 2, numbers start moving due to the shift of ‘20’ in pole position, the other numbers move right and down. This movement continues across 20 grids, closing the loop.
In each grid, he will connect the 5 (3,9,13,15 and 18). He has now 20 beautiful ‘lines and Forms’ that he reproduces using a brush and ink. On the draft paper Nb 3, he seems to have come up with a system to pick his 5 protagonists, but he crossed it and on page 1, he says that these were picked randomly.
