We are pleased to share that Hassan Sharif’s works are currently exhibited at Fondation Bodmer, Geneva, as part of ‘Cahiers écrits, dessinés, inimprimés’ (Notebooks written, drawn, nonprinted), curated by Thierry Davila.
The exhibition displays notebooks and diaries of artists, writers and philosophers. These are more than just sketchbooks or drafts. Most have been intricately worked, assembled and structured, even adorned, which makes them unique: they are single copies, never printed as such.
The objects are not exhibited based on chronology, but rather on appearance; visual and pictorial affinities justify correlations and dialogues between each other. Beyond text and substance, universes are written, drawn, traced and coloured presented through notebooks and diaries creating visual ties.
The exhibited contemporary works are jointly part of the MAMCO (Geneva Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) collection and from the Martin Bodmer Foundation.
