Hassan Sharif and Cristiana de Marchi's book Embodying, reflects on Sharif's early performances, each corresponding to 29 poems by de Marchi, where she is narrating and animating, almost bringing these documented performances back to life. In the early 1980s and 1990s, Sharif carried out a series of performances without an audience and had them photographed in colour or black and white by close friends or other artists. This documentation of the artist's movements shows how pointless and meaningless these actions and mundane activities appear to be when taken out of context.
